Regarding the color of panels. In front of me I have 3 SB-401's, 2 -
SB-301's, two SB-600's, SB-221, SB-610, and SB-630 and a SB-303 (sorry none
for sale). There is considerable variation in the color of the cabinets with
the later gear carrying a more blue tint. However, I can see little or any
variation in the panel color on the gear I have with the exception of one
speaker grill that has a definite blue tint. . All the rest of the panels look
"dark green" to me. It is interesting that my 303 panel is almost a perfect
match for the earliest 301 in spite of the fact that the 301 is in grey-green
cabinet and 303 is in blue-tint cabinet. I guess that there must have been
quite a bit of variation depending on the year and paint batch. If so, maybe
I just got a herd that looks the same. ;<). BTW the SB-401 does not require a
power supply. It is built in.

Also, to comment on a related thread. The SB-301/401 makes an excellent CW
rig but only with the optional crystal pack in the TX. In 30 years of using
them almost exclusively on CW, I have never managed to solve all the problems
of using them tranceive in CW mode. It works, but not well.

Good Hunting. - 73 Darwin K5DOA
