OK, the purists can relax, actually I just re-built an HP-23A power
supply. This started out with idea of just replacing the caps but once
inside and a visual of the original constructor's work, one thing led to
another and before I realized it, the supply was totally disassembled.
Natural thing to do was clean it all up, do some touch-up painting, and
start from scratch. Replaced all the caps and diodes and most of the
resistors. Found myself skipping the step-by-step instructions and just
worked from the schematic and the pictorial. It had been over twenty
years since I assembled a Heathkit. Sure was fun. Other list members
have spoken of totally disassembling and reassembling more complex kits
and I think this one may just have been a "starter" for me. Am thinking
in terms of maybe one of the single-banders next.....
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
