Factory built, demo units & AR-15s...

Gangue,

Again, thanks for your collective experiences re: various
factory, demo, display and test built units... amazing
stuff!

I vividly recall the day I purchased a "distressed"
factory-built AR-15 (the stereo... not the military
weapon) from a Heath store in Wyoming. The poor thing had
fallen off a delivery truck at 50 mph and suffered road
rash. I paid $75 "as is" ... took it home and wired it up
to my JBL speakers. Even with the chassis twisted like a
warped LP record, that was the finest playing stereo
receiver I've ever owned. I must have played that receiver
for over 10,000 hours until tragedy struck during my 30th
birthday party. Someone cranked the bass and volume all
the way to "11" whilst playing the Rolling Stones album
and let all the smoke out of the ol' girl's PA
transistors. dang!

Anyone still playing an AR-15? They really *don't* make
'em like that anymore, eh?
