Thanks for the note Al (you too Gene),

Gene fitted extra weights up under his stand and, the more I think about it, has
done the most logical thing.  It might be possible to melt some wheel weights
down and pour the underneath with ballast.

I once wrote EV and asked if they would mind someone making a limited run
impression casting of their base and they replied with a "Yes, we would mind"
but very polite letter.  So it may be that a
new but not identical design would pass inspection.  It's a darned if you do,
darned if you don't dilemma.

Hi, Doug.  EV made two varieties of this stand.  The EV-419 (419S with PTT
button) fits the 664.  The EV-418 (or 418S with PTT button) is for the EV-636
(or the older 664 with the red EV logo where the connector-to-stand threads
spacing is shorter).

They are as rare as "hen's teeth".  Keep looking and you will be rewarded
someday.  I posted for one many times on the reflector but never got an offer
for one - except the guy who wanted $425 including the 664 mic!
