I picked this up at a thrift store - $10 + shipping to US address. Looks
like some type of photo/darkroom accessory. About the size of the larger
transistor testers -7" x 4" x 9". Weighs 3-4 lbs. Operates off 110vac, but
looks like it could be wired for 220 (seems to have two primary windings on
the transformer). 2-wire ac cord. Based on the assembly quality, I'd say it
was a kit. Has a couple of transistors. The face of the device has an
analog meter with some type of surface that can be written on with a pencil
(and has been), and 5 holes that provide screwdriver access to some pots
inside. The face says it is a "Mitchell Fotoval II, Model PM-18" and also
says Heath company - Benton Harbor Michigan. Typical silver/blue model and
lot number tag is inside. Lastly, it has some type of sensor on the end of a
thin cable, that has a sliding cover. Looks like the sensor could be clipped
onto a photo or negative or something to register something or other about
the something that was clipped into the sensor gizmo. Passed smoke test.
Good physical condition, but I don't know if it works. No manual included.
Nice box and power supply for a homebrew project (just kidding).
Thanks for the read,
Doug
