Personal attacks Re: making copies of manuals

Murray,

Well, I will give everyone this much .... even those I disagree with on the copyright issue.

So far, it's mostly remained a "discussion" and has not degenerated [quite] to the "flame" level of cursing and name calling that I've seen on other message boards [some of the messages have gotten "warm", but considering what I've seen elsewhere, no "flame" - yet].

This is an important subject that is worthy of rational discussion. Let's everyone on both sides try to keep it at the discussion level, and not let it degenerate to personal attacks and name calling, even when some of us [me included] disagree rather strongly with other members of the group.

That's one of the things that separates the adults from the children.

OK guys...

I'm used to Randy's Reminders...they don't bother me...I don't feel the need
to make negative remarks about him. Even if I did, this isn't the place for
it.

I'm not singling out anyone here for criticism...I'm just hoping we can nip
in the bud a rash of unpleasant 'flaming' the rest of us don't need.

I respect the fact that Randy gives a damn about the company he works for,
whatever is left of it. I've worked at several companies, and it took me
years to get some perspective on mediocrity in the world...my expectations
of other people's performance usually were disappointed.

Heath and its much-changing-over decades-policies were not perfect, but I
can say that during my snapshot in time there (about 2 years), I was
impressed by the attitude employees had, for the most part anyway.

Yes, things deteriorated quite a bit towards the end of the kit era, out of
departmental dysfunctionality, but when it was at its peak it was due to the
attitudes people had about their jobs. Bad policies go a long way toward
making a company perform poorly, but good policies alone do not guarantee.

Many of us here are hams, and older timers know how much the general
demeanor of hams has deteriorated...people used to be polite, at least at
lot more than the stuff you hear in the last several years on 2m, 20m ,
75m...obscenity, jamming and interference, etc... jeez, that's why I like
CW, it's too much work to soapbox or be too annoying to others! Being a jerk
one letter at a time just doesn't have the impact that SSB or FM can.

Anyway, same thing here...it's not my job to moderate the list, but I think
I can speak for all in that we don't want a bunch of ongoing flames. There's
some really ugly stuff going on on the rec.audio.tubes newsgroup between a
couple of individuals for at least a couple of years now, and it's driven
off some of the really knowledgeable and helpful individuals. I'd hate to
see that happen here.

So, I try to just hit the delete key if I see something I don't like.

Murray
