Heath electrolytic problem

Most any edition of the ARRL HANDBOOK gives details on how to properly
"...restore" those electrolytic capacitors that have sat idle for some
time.

I recently acquired a bunch of "cans" for future use in an HV power supply
from a Hamfest, & proceded to restore them as described therein---I was
amazed to see how quickly some were restored, while others took
considerably longer (upwards of 20-30 minutes!).

I imagine those slow "healers" would have surely erupted electrolyte from
their wax-sealed vents, or worse!

NOTE: the ARRL Handbook technique DOES NOT require the services of a
variac...
