Heath electrolytic problem

that would have been my first guess as well.. while physical leaking
is real common I've seen almost no "explosions" that weren't
attributable directly to incorrect hook-up.

Of course, I'm far from the master at this game that some here are.

He did say however, that it was the 40 mfd 450 that "blew" not the <
smaller caps that are likely to be on the bias supply.

Given Heaths usual use of voltage doublers and tripplers with
caps that don't have either end at ground anything is
possible.
