Jerry,
Were the 6883 tube RCA brand? If so, it is a real tribute to their "Dark
Heater" design; this was intended to keep the output constant with the
voltage variations encountered in mobile operation [especially in the
generator days]. By the way, want to sell those 6883s cheap to a Clegg
owner? 73.

Subject: 6883 tubes again!
Gang,
Thanks very much to everyone who helped and corrected me on the 6883 tubes.
As it turns out, the filaments WERE at 6.3V after all. About 50 watts or
so output. Guess those tubes were all he had to replace with or ??
Anyway, put in two good 6146's and bingo, 100 watts out!!
So, I learned another lesson and did not have any problems after all.
Thank's guys!

Now to neutralize those tubes and re-align the whole rig.
