WA-P2 audio preamp question

Hello:

I got a call from someone today who inherited a Heath WA-P2 preamp in
excellent physical condition. He doesn't know which end is which on it, but
wants to use it with a CD player. He's curious what it might be 'worth', not
to sell it, but to determine whether it's worth finding someone to check it
out and repair if necessary.

So that's the first question.

The second is, can anyone recommend a place or tube audio hobbyist in the
Fresno CA that could help him evaluate it's condition (either a reputable
service place or a helpful audio guy). This guy is interested in switching
from SS to vacuum, but his technical knowledge was too low to discuss much
over the phone.
