Attachments to e-mail reflectors are not appreciated by many subscribers.
Such attachments are usually of interest to only a limited few, can
overload the server with sheer traffic volume, and irritate subscribers who
must manually delete the attachments. In addition, attachments are the
favored method of virus transmission. The prevailing advice from all of the
antivirus software companies is to immediately delete any unsolicited
e-mail containing any kind of attachment. Attachments also will not be
passed through the JUNO servers and perhaps others.
Postings made in HTML instead of plain ASCII text is also a very poor idea
as it can cause e-mailers to inadvertently change their font, messing up
e-mailer settings.
For these and other reasons, the qth.net reflectors are set to reject any
non-ASCII posting to all reflectors, including any with attachments. If you
have pictures, you should advertise the fact in your ASCII posting and
either post them to your own web site or offer to forward them individually
to those requesting them.
