I must concur with comments in this forum regarding the Heath
Apache (TX-1) transmitter.
It is a great unit. I presently have two of them as well as
two of the companion SB-10 sideband adapters. I have used the Apache
on cw and am phone a lot. It's a great companion to some of the older
receivers like the Hammarlunds, of which I have three various ones.
Although my all-time favorite is still the DX-100, I really
like the Apache. With the availability of both the 100 and the Apache,
its often possible to swap parts to keep one or the other going because
parts, like all the boat anchors, are getting harder to come across.
The tuning mechanism of the Apache was mentioned here. I have
had to restring the dial cords a couple times, but because I have
the original manual for the Apache, it hasnt been a great difficulty.
