"Low-noise" resistors

I rebuilt two Heath AA121 amps.
Yes, you can use metal film resistors in the low level stages. If you are
really concerned, there are MANY audiophile, supposedly ultra low noise
resistors (Vishay comes to mind) that you can spend lotsa bucks on.
If you dug in to your junkbox and found the oldest, moldy looking, cut from
an
old TV chassis carbon resistor, you would probably never hear a differance.
On some rebuilds, I used all new carbon-comp resistors. Some think that
the film type resistors color the sound a bit 'harsh' or 'grainy'.
I kind of doubt it.
If you are gutting in to an old Heath, I would first start with the coupling
caps.
The little yellow jobs from Antique Electronic Supply have worked very
nicely
for me.
