Gerald, unless Heath did something wierd, you should be able to set up the static and dynamic convergence as well as the purity without anything but an NTSC dot/color bar generator and a mirror. Be sure you set the purity first. Any good Television manual should have the directions. The local library usually has a few of these collecting dust in the electronics section. On most TV's you set the yoke with a cross bar. I usually set the purity on white and then set the green and then set the red and blue to the green. I use a grey scale to do the lumanance and then the standard color bars to set up the guns and the gain (if you can not get good grey scale, you cannot make good color). Should be about a 15 or 20 minute job. Not much you can do about Def Phase and Def gain, just gotta go with what the machine has to offer. If you find that purity will not set, be sure you do not have a warped shadow mask! Degouse and try again to be sure. If you have a weak or damaged tube or tearing reds and saturated colors, all the adjusting in the world will not help! Check to make sure you do not have a cold solder joint or a resistor on the crt board that is changing values on you, the Zenith sets were notorious for such things. CU Mitch

I'm looking for the section "initial test and adjustments" in the heathkit manual for the GR-2501 color television. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could send this information to me. it contains the set-up information for the convergence of the color guns. thank you for your time.
