6146'S

Have watched with interest this group's discussions regarding the
6146. My ancient RCA XMITTING tube manual shows the original 6146 at 20
watts CCS dissipation, 25 watts ICAS.
All 6146's are INdirectly heated. That is, the filaments are
enclosed in cathode sleeves on all versions. An example of a DIRECTLY
heated tube would be the 2E24, which is a quick-start version of the
2E26.
Don't have much info close-by regarding the A and B suffixes.
However, it is an excellent bet that all W suffixes will have somewhat,
if not greatly, greater electrode capacitances. This is primarily due
to
the extra structure necessitated by rugggedization. This ought not to
be a problem on the lower HF bands, but should be considered if your
rig covers 10 and/or 6 meters! Don Goshay, PE W6MMU/0
