ID-4001 Computer Interface

I'd appreciate and help / leads on attempts at interfacing this with a PC. I'm
attempting to do this now and would like to avoid re-inventing the wheel if
possible.

I have a manual as well as schematics, what I am lacking is any detail on the
multiplexing scheme used between the microprocessor and the LED display.

Any knowledge, or articles that you might have come across would be
appreciated.
