Because of the html or (whatever it is) in which this message was
originally written, some of the message did not come out when I did a
"reply to all". This seems an excellent example of why everybody should
MAKE CERTAIN that your e-mailer is set to plain text.

All else has NOT failed. If one is considering something as drastic as
actually cutting aluminum on the rear panel, then why not take the easy way
out and simply solder a cord into the radio???? Either tack-solder it
directly to the pins on the original connector, or remove the connector for
posterity and run the cord through the remaining hole with some sort of big
grommet. Sure seems a lot easier and cleaner than chopping holes in these
radios.

Same thing; simply solder to the original conn pins or remove the conn
entirely.
