Virus Hoax check sites

Fellow listers,

I have more info on where to check for hoaxes, as noted in an earlier
posting. I've since learned that the last message I got about the Trojan
Horse was in fact legitimate! Here are some resources to verify BEFORE
YOU FORWARD.

Sorry for the bandwidth, but I think this is important to all members and
email users.

In answer to a question to their website about hoax messages,
        Download.com responded:

First off, let's make a few things clear: neither Disney nor Bill
Gates
are giving away $1,000 (or $5,000, depending on the message) for
forwarding a chain email; likewise, the American Cancer Society
won't
donate three cents per email to help save Jessica Mydek, a little
girl
dying of cancer (who, by the way, doesn't exist). And no, Kurt
Vonnegut
did not advise graduating seniors at a 1997 MIT commencement
address to
"wear sunscreen" in the future. These are all classic examples of
email
hoaxes, and more and more of these scams are popping up every
day. For a
comprehensive listing of recent and past hoaxes, check out:

Another good source to check out hoaxes is the Data Fellows Virus
News
        Updates page at

        http://www.datafellows.com/news/vir-news/

The U.S. Department of Energy's Computer Incident Advisory
Capability
also keeps track of hoaxes at

        http://www.ciac.org/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html

Symantec's Antivirus Research Center tracks emerging viruses as
well as
        hoaxes at

        http://www.sarc.com

And I thank you for your support.
