I have a friend who restores antique AM table radios of the 40's / 50's.
His technique for plastic knobs and cases is to use a soft buffing wheel
mounted in a workbench grinder. The buffing wheel gets all the crud off,
and the fungus doesn't come back. It will also take out small
imperfections and scuffs.
I don't know where he got the wheel, but I can ask.
