When I was teaching at the college of engineering in a school in
Arizona (circa 1990) they phased out the required slide rule undergrad
course in favor of a electronic calculator course. There was one of those
6' instructional slide rules made out of plywood which appeared in a
surplus sale by the university, which I bought for $2. I toted it
around for a number of years, but finally discarded it a couple of
cross-country moves ago.

It made a dandy conversation piece laid up against the corner of the
shack, though!
