So, is the Soft-Key mod enough?

One last, quick question before I connect my SB201 to my ICOM 756...

I have the Soft-Key mod installed from Harbach Electronics. Do I really need
to connect up the Ameritron ARB702I Interface Relay Buffer?

The Soft-Key mod "lets the exciter key a modest +1 volt at 1.5
milliamperes." It uses an opto-isolator in the circuit.  The Ameritron
ARB-702I "fully protects radios from damage caused by keying line trnasients
or excessive current and voltage."

Seems to me like the Ameritron Interface Relay Buffer is not needed with the
Soft-Key mod installed.  Would I be well served to just leave it out, in the
interest of simplicity?
