DAIWA--Who are they? Can I Get Help?

Excuse me for posting something other than a Heath question, but some of us
Heath owners also have meters under the name DAIWA. My dilemma is that I
recently purchased a NS-660PA on ebay for $90.00. I received it timely and
when I hooked it up to my PS it did not seem to have power. After opening it
up I see that a resistor (fuse??) is blown and a wire from the DC connector
has melted a bit.

The guy who I purchased the item from gives me short responses, which elude
to vague knowledge of the item or its origin. Although he say's it worked
the last time he used it, all of his answers to my questions leave me
guessing. He assures me that the company is still alive, but I have yet to
find any DAIWA other than a real estate company and a fishing tackle
company.

The paper he sent me has the specs and an address in LA, but there is no
DAIWA there today.

I am willing to replace the resistor and the wire to make the product work
correctly, mostly because the PEP will not work without DC according to the
specs, and I do like the meter, I think?

Does anyone know anything about this company? How I might be able to get a
schematic? Or does anyone know the value of the resistor(s) attached to the
DC circuit in the unit.

Any help would be appreciated and I have JPEG's of the circuit if
interested.

I know very little about this stuff, but it sends me back to when I was a
kid when I couldn't put dad's radio back together again!

PS This was my first purchase on ebay, and since then, other purchases have
gone smoothly.
