I wouldn't worry about your bidding method.  I have found that no matter
what method is used, someone will find fault with it. I've listed stuff with
asking prices and was criticized by someone who thought the price was too
high.  Then I tried listing stuff without prices, taking "best offer," and
got some barbs for that, too.

So, it appears that, as in other things, there is no way to please everyone,
so there is no point in trying to do so...just use whatever method pleases
you.  After all, those who take exception to it are perfectly free to
abstain from participating.
