I see you mention testing tubes several times. I just want to caution you
not to depend too much on a tube-tester as it is, at best, only a
guesstiment. It cannot put all of the different voltages and frequencies
on a tube that it may operate under in actual service. It basically
measures it's gain under only one set of conditions. Generally, if a tube
tests bad it is bad, if it tests good you still don't know. The best test
is to substitute with a new tube and see if the circuit works better. In
50 years of radio repairing I have seen many tubes that test good,
outperformed by a new tube.
