Doug,

Your tutorial was just what I was looking for.
This unit has the "tuned-plate oscillator [V19A]
as you described. There is also a "cathode follower"
[V19B]before the mixer stage.

My frequency counter is due back from the shop
tomorrow and I'll test again.

I'll list the VDC from the test point ,and the
frequency over at C223 on the "follower" stage.

It will be interesting to see where things peek
and restart well.

I am afraid that I'm going to find that some
of my crystals are aged-off.

I may have to pass this unit off to those who
restore museum pieces. They will have a good box, this
is a 10 on the appearance scale.
