Dial belts

Paul,
I think they were all that way in the beginning. I have a SB-100 and the
manual for it and it (the manual) goes to great lengths on how to string
the dial cord. Since then I've restrung a SB-101 loading and driver
tuning and it has a much more solid feeling. The only problem is
synchronizing the grid and plate tuning of the driver. With the belts you
can turn the control end-to-end and let the belt slip do the
synchronizing. With the dial cord, you have to keep redoing to get the
right. I gave up and used a belt (PepBoys O-ring) for the 1st belt. Also
the SB-401 uses dial cord for the final loading which is an identical
setup to the SB-100/1/2.

This would be a great thing for Harbach to offer. If he could find the
springs. Fishing line makes great dial cord but I've looked all over for
those springs. Maybe an appliance repair shop.
