Well, I bought one at Restoration Hardware today. It's pretty similar in
construction to what I remember of the original, but the sensitivity is
pretty disappointing. I've connected it to everything I can find that ought
to act as an antenna, including a 20M dipole, phone line, metal parts of
lamps, etc., and at best picked up one very faint station - at night! My
signal generator appears to have died, so I can't actually measure
sensitivity until I fix it. But if I can't pick up strong stations here just
north of Seattle, it's probably not too hopeful. Just didn't want anyone to
buy one, be disappointed, and blame me. BTW, the other 'vintage' items they
offer are pretty junky, and also overpriced.
