Simple; cost!  At the time, TV sweep tubes in quantity were much cheaper
than 6146s, and worked well up to 21 MHz.  I've put 6146s in place of the
6DQ6s in Hallicrafters gear, so the reverse should be possible.  73.

  This is a pointless question I suppose, but does anyone
know why Heath used a sweep tube in the final of the HW-16
rather than a 6146? Has anyone tried installing a 6146 in this
rig?
