Hi Ron:
I'm not sure what material the switch contacts are made of, but the
tarnish you describe is not at all unusual. I have had good success using a
commercial product called "blue shower" to clean these contacts. You can
also use a product called "De-Oxid" (sp???). Lacking either of these
products, you can also use plain old rubbing alcohol. There is also a tuner
cleaner/degreaser available from Radio Shack which is similar to the "Blue
Shower" and works well.
