Daystrom purchased Heath Company from Howard Anthony's widow in the mid
50's. Howard was president and owner when his plane crashed in 1954
North of Chattanooga, TN. Daystrom was eventually bought by
Schlumberger, a French corporation that was mostly into oil well logging
and production equipment. There were a few "Daystrom" branded products
as a test market tool, but the brand was rolled into the Heath name with
the "Heathkit by Daystrom" logo.

That was the beginning of Heath's "French Connection", which lasted until
Zenith Electronics purchased the company in 1968, and sold it to Groupe
Bull, another French Corp in 1978 for a 10-fold profit. The rest was
"downhill" from there.
