getting out scuffs in plastic cabinets

Fred,
My Elmer many years ago told me of two tricks for getting scratches off
meter and other sensitive plastic items.
1. Use spittle and cigarette ashes - it makes a nice paste to use - if
you don't
smoke, see item two.
2. Use toothpaste sparingly, even diluted if need be, it also works
well.
