Heath VFO question

Hi guys. Just aquired a real nice HG-10B VFO.  It has the common problem
of cracks in the rotating drum.  These are at both ends and have not
progressed to a point where they touch the calibrated portion of the
drum.  Any way to make sure they don't progress or does anyone have a
good one?
