Joe;

The HW-18-3 manual says take the crystal out of one socket, use coaxial cable
to run your external VFO to the crystal socket pins, and adjust the amplitude
of the VFO to 1 to 2 volts output. No other modifications are mentioned.

Subject: VFO for the HW-18-3 160M Monobander?
MIME-Version: 1.0

Hello,
Name here is Joe and I'm looking for information from anyone who ever used a
VFO with the HW-18-3 160 meter monobander. It uses 5 MHZ crystals and would
prefer to do a modification (w/o destroying originality and front panel) to
make it frequency agile. If anyone has a scheme how well did it drive the
oscillator?
Anyone ever use a external VFO with any success in this radio?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
