SB-102/SB-640 Question

I have an SB-102. I recently acquired an SB-640 that must have been made
prior to the SB-102 because its manual explains how to add the mating 9-pin
connector to an SB-101. (It's standard on the SB-102.) In trying to connect
the two, I find that the cable pinouts don't match. Furthermore, it looks
like there's room for two of the 9-pin Molex connectors in the bracket, and
the back panel of the SB-102 shows a drawing of connector 1 on top (manual
shows it going to a transverter) and connector 2 on the bottom (manual shows
it going to an LMO). The SB-102 manual never shows a second connector being
wired, but it does have you put a diode between two pins on connector 1. Can
anyone help me figure out what's going on?
