Heath Audio Question

Hello,
     Does anyone remember a piece of Heath stereo equipment that
filtered out pops and crackles from LP records?  Does anyone have
one or is anyone familiar with how well it worked?  I'm wondering if
it is something I could use while recording LPs onto CDs, to give
me better analog sound.  Thanks.
