Everyone!

I've been posting questions here for the past week or so. Many thanks to
those that have help me out. Great bunch of hams. To me, this is what ham
radio is all about, a hot soldering iron in hand, the other on the CW key!

now, most if not all of you have never heard of me before. So a quick bio..

I really do have a call, I am WB8VGE. I've held this gem for 25 years. It
sucks on phone, and sucks on CW. Just like a ulgy wife, it's mine!

I've been writing for 73 magazine for about 12 year. I do the monthly qrp
column in the mag. I also have done about ten articles for QST. I also
produced the HW-8 handbook.

Now, I've been given the ok to produce a series of articles on heathkit
radios! This will be a series, not a column. Each one will be a standalone
article by itself.

While not 100 percent sure, the editor always has the last say, the series
will appear in CQ magazine.

Each series will run about 3 to 4 pages long. That's quite long for a
article in a magazine.

The series will be called, "Keeping the green flame burning"
A subtitle will then been added that will feature the radio we will talk
about.

The first one will be called:

"Keeping the green flame burning,
The Heathkit HW-16"

I plan on doing one for the, HW-16, HW101, The monobanders, The SB104, The
SB101/102 and the Heathkit twins, the SB 401/SB300/1/3/

So, now for some questions...

Does anyone really know what the HW or SB mean? Do they mean anything at
all?

How many HW-16 kits were produced?
How many HW101 kits were produced? ( I have heard close to 45,000!)
There were modifications for the HW-16. Anyone have the reference to those
articles. (just need the reference, not the articles)

If anyone knows of any tid bit of information, please pass it one to me. You
will of course be given full credit in the articles.

As I get deeper into this work, will be asking for your help again.

so, again THANKS for the help in the past, and

Keep the green flame burning!
