.....one more point. The S-meter pot, R534, apparently tends to go bad
over time ("iffy" mechanical termination.....one end opens) just like the
carrier balance pot on board "E". Good idea to replace them both (the
carrier balance pot with a multi-turn unit...easier adjustment: a bonus fix).
