HW9 problem

I have a nice HW9 that the receiver died on the other day.  When I was
operating one evening the signals slowly just faded off into the distance.
It still transmits fine and occassionally I can hear a weak signal but it
is usually way off freq and even though the bandspread is tuned the sig
stays in the same place.

Wonder if anyone has an idea what could cause this or where to start
looking. Would like to get it back on the air.  thanks in advance for any
help.
