I always start at the speaker and work back, and the
RF out back to the osc.
A good way to clean tube sockets is to use TARN-X and
pipe cleaners,they slide down in the connectors and
will make short order of corrosion, be sure to use
ELECTRO-WASH to remove that tarn-x residue.
Automotive SILICON SPRAY lubs and protects from
moisture. and GC silicon grease does wonders on
detents
and slides.
And don't use metal type resistors in RF sections,
remember skin effect?and take the time to make a
breakout box to monitor all currents going to the
radio
from the power supply such as the hp series, it is a
big help.
and last wash all boards (foil side) with flux remover
so the foil landings won't eat away.
