Thanks to those who sent suggestions about the carrier null problem I WAS
having!!!

Yep, the 401 is up and playing better than new.  A 200 ohm pot with
mechanical problems and a .2uf coupling cap sure made the difference.  Tune
up instructions from the manual went as smoothly as one could want.  Nice
radio.  Its companion receiver is about ready also and I think they will make
a nice addition to the boatanchor collection of working rigs.

Now its on to restoring the AT-1 + VF-1 and getting the Comanche and Cheyenne
tuned up and on the air.
