SB-102 LMO

I have a SB-102 that seems to have a squirrely LMO.  I have gone through
all of the alignments per the manual.  Is this caused
by dirty mechanical contacts in the LMO?  If so is the LMO hard to work on,
I myself have not had one(LMO) apart before.
