SA-2060A tuner

I finally bought the SA-2060A tuner, which unfortunately did not come with a manual. Therefore, I have some questions.

What is the "bypass" connector on the back used for?

I would assume that it bypasses the tuner. If so, I guess then my question would be rhetorical - why not do that with a switch like MFJ does, because I may want to [actually I do] use an antenna on some bands with a tuner, and on one or other bands in bypass mode.

My other question concerns the tune-up procedure.

I bought this tuner to replace an MFJ 941E tuner. I used an Autek RF-1 with the MFJ tuner to adjust the tuner for lowest SWR, saving my finals. I exchanged the tuners, and using the RF-1, I could not get any reading, cycling through the entire range of the inductor, trying different capacitor settings. My thought is that there is some other procedure for tuning up?

Any responses would be appreciated. Tom W6EIJ
