SB 102

Hello all,

I am having a problem with an SB-102 I picked up recently.

The rig is working, and is in nice cosmetic condition, but there is some sort of gremlin in the RECEIVED audio. On the air reports indicated that the TRANSMITTED audio is fine.

The symptoms are thus: after listening for a while, the received audio will drop off, and by moving the af gain higher, it will come back. When this happens, it almost sounds like a "microphonic" tube, but I have checked and substituted tubes, and it still persists.

There is a pronounced "dirtiness" to the audio especially noticeable on CW. Sounds like AC or DC ripple. I have substituted power supplies, and this does not help.

This condition also seems to affect the CW sidetone audio.

I realize that this is kinda like asking the doc for a diagnosis over the phone, but thought maybe someone had a similar experience, or would know better than I where to start looking.

Thanks to all for any help
