The issue at hand is about the trashing of newsgroups
and mailing lists with unwanted notices of whats
happening at an auction site, when the subscriber is
here for traditional buying and selling purposes.
The internet does not change the rules of polite and
considerate behavior.
My suggestion is to create a "For-Auction" list to
augment the other lists, and resist incursion of the
auction advertisements. If auction sellers don't feel
they're getting enough exposure and buyers knocking on
their door, please don't use that as an excuse to
trash the lists with inappropriate notices.
Let the auction companies who are enjoying GREAT
profits provide the necessary marketing for their
users, I think they are capable, and I'm sure they
wouldn't bring it here!
