The Z-100 was my first computer. The main problem with running IBM pc programs is that the
Z-100 went to market slightly before the IBM and most of the peripheral addresses are different.
Programs that use DOS to access the keyboard and video will generally work OK. If they try to
do it directly (lots of DOS programs did for for performance reasons) it will generally just lock the
machine up. In the 80's there was a very active users group and so you could find patches and
utilities to work around some of the problems. The CP/M programs were generally more
compatible. It was a very well designed computer and the S-100 buss gave you access to lots of
cards, it just died of incompatibility.
