The DX-60 has more than enough gain for a plain D-104. You shouldn't need a
preamp to drive the audio. In fact, the DX-60 microphone input is ideal for
the old D-104. You might try what I did. I bypassed the preamp and went
straight in. With the unmodified screen-modulated scheme Heath used, you'll
never get really great sounding audio. You also won't get 100% modulation
either. More like 80%.
