Of all the units I've restored I've never shotgunned the resistors, only
if
the voltages were off. I have pulled them tested and returned the good
ones
to service. I've been known to strip the entire board and re-build it if
really bad.
Usually it's not necessary to replace all the resistors in a fashion
like
re-capping.
If you do use the original style usually carbon, but newer styles are
ok.
I just use what's in my BIG junk box.
