Tim,
    Check the BIAS of audio transistors.
There maybe a bias diode and a thermmister for temp. comp.

I work on audio amps all the time.
check all caps in the audio amp.
a leakely cap can blow transistors.
IF push pull transistors use a matched pair for
best preformance.
Check emmiter resistors also.

also make shure you use thermal compound on power 
transistors and mica if transistor needs to be not
connected to heatsink.

Also check mounting hard where for shorts to heatsink with a ohm meter.

when in question replace the caps.This is cheaper than
keep replaceing transistors.
