I got an HM-9 QRP wattmeter at a hamfest recently. I found that
it was built for 6M. I would like to use it on HF. I saw that
it can be built for HF, 6M or 2M. Problem is the pickup coil L1
is different for HF vs VHF. Heath part numbers are 40-1970 for the
HF and 40-1982 for the VHF coil. I have the 40-1982 coil in my
HM-9. What is the difference between the two? More turns on the
1982 vs the 1970 for more sensitivity on VHF? Perhaps the VHF coil
will work on HF as long as all the other components are correct for
that freq. range? I am sure I could build a reasonable copy of the
1970 coil if I knew the number of turns. Anyone encountered this
problem?.....Thanks!...Bob...WA1EDJ...Monroe, GA.....
