HW-101 oscillator problem

I purchased an HW-101 around the 1971 time frame and after assembling it
found that the heterodyne oscillator didn't oscillate on all bands. In
particular there was no output on the 28.0 and 29.5 MHz bands. I've
lately heard indirectly that there may be a Heath-supplied fix for this
problem, something about more oscillator circuit grounding. Would anyone
know the details of that fix? By the way, I've reviewed all the Heath
tech bulletins and not found this problem mentioned.
